The 3rd round of the FA Cup throws up the opportunity for some real giant killing when for the first time Non-League clubs get a chance to play sides from the Premier League and Championship. But it was not the non-league clubs who called the shots on third round day - Lincoln apart
Of the five Non-League sides have made it to this stage, Barrow, Eastleigh, and Stourbridge all went out. Eastleigh swept away by Brentford and Rochdale saw off Barrow with little fuss. Wycombe made harder work of beating Stourbridge.
Sutton who famously knocked out Coventry at this stage in 1989 drew with AFC Wimbledon
Lincoln City - runaway leaders of the national League did best though holding Championship Ipswich 2-2 at Portman Road.

Premier League big-boys Stoke were beaten by a weak Wolves side who landed odds of 5-1, Derby a 7/2 shot beat West Brom after going behind and Millwall of League 1 beat Bournemouth who made 11 changes 3-0. That means only 11 Premier League clubs at best can make the last 32 with six all Premier League clashes taking place.

With Liverpool expected to make wholesale changes for the visit of Plymouth there will be plenty who will fancy the 20/1 about a shock. But you have to go back to 1959 to see the last time Liverpool lost to a side three tiers below them.

Spurs should take care of Villa and Peterborough will do well to get anything of Chelsea. Cardiff and Fulham are closley matched and calling this early game is hard with both sides expected to make changes.

Overall, the conclusion has to be to sit this out.
