Steve Bruce has a habit of getting one over on former clubs - and he has a few now - and the return to Sunderland will be another step for his Villa side if they win.

Wolves play Leeds on Wednesday and their recent wobble has given the chasing pack hope that they can close the gap. Villa, Fulham and Cardiff have been winning with frightening regularity if you are a Wolves fan, and what looked a two horse race in January is now a four horse race at least for the two promotion spots.

Fulham beat rivals Derby more comfortably than a 2-1 scoreline suggests at the weekend and they face a Sheffield United side who have hit the skids at the wrong time. At shades of 10/11 The Cottagers will be in plenty of accas. So will Villa at 11/10 to beat bottom club Sunderland who have shown no marked improvement since Chris Coleman replaced Simon Grayson.

Preston had a great win at Bolton on saturday and face promotion rivals Bristol City and Fulham this week. North End have an impeccable record against Bristol and might land the home win at 6/4.

Boro are also in unbeatable form under Tony Pulis and they have nothing to fear at Birmingham who appointed gary Monk as their fifth boss in 18 months. Derby can win at QPR and Cardiff will fancy themselves to beat relegation threatened Barnsley.
