ENGLAND THREE LIONS TAKE ON SPAIN

THREE LIONS TAKE ON SPAIN

7th September 2018

It's only 2 months since the World Cup but England's team against Spain on Saturday will not look anything like.

England are without Jamie Vardy and Gary Cahill who both announced they would be taking a step back from international duty.

Raheem Sterling (back) and Adam Lallana (groin) have both withdrawn from the squad this week with injuries, leaving England with a rather bare bones midfield.

Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy is in line to make his debut after being rewarded for his impressive form with a first international call up.

Spain find themselves embarking on a new era following the summer retirements of David Silva, Andres Iniesta and Gerard Pique.

Real Madrid playmaker Marco Asensio could be given a starting berth as new manager Luis Enrique looks to mould the national side in his image.

England look skinny enough at 7/4 although their overall record at the New Wembley is very good.

With so many changes - to both squads this looks like a game to watch not punt.
